The Timber Lane Cottage | Custom Design & Build

by | Sep 5, 2025

A spacious hybrid timber frame cottage designed to bring generations together, with seven bedrooms, layered gathering spaces, and uninterrupted views of the lake.

Floor Plan: 2215sf

Set on the shoreline, Timber Lane was created with family life in mind. Its 2,215 finished square feet balance open gathering spaces with tucked-away bedrooms, making it as comfortable for quiet weekends as it is for large family holidays. Rich wood tones, layered lighting, and bold features throughout the design ensure warmth and comfort all year long.

The Floor Plan

The main floor is anchored by a great room that looks directly out to the lake. Vaulted pine ceilings, timber beams, and expansive windows set the tone for a welcoming retreat. A double attached garage with living space above adds flexibility, while the walkout basement extends the cottage’s footprint into the outdoors.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is both functional and inviting, featuring deep teal custom cabinets, soapstone countertops, stainless steel appliances, and copper pendant lighting. A brass utensil rail adds a touch of character. The large island with bar seating becomes a natural hub for prep, meals, and conversation, while the adjacent sunroom with a wraparound banquette is perfect for breakfast, crafts, or game nights.

The Dining Room

Connected to the kitchen, the dining space feels bright and open, with plenty of room for family meals. Just beyond, a large deck provides space for the smoker, barbeque, or a quiet evening outdoors.

The Living Room

An arched wood-burning fireplace with a rustic granite stone façade anchors the living room, bringing warmth and character to the space. Large windows and timber detailing along the lakeside wall connect the indoors to the outdoors, creating a cozy yet expansive place to gather.

Exterior Design

A show-stopping timber roof detail defines the roadside entry, while gable trusses carry across the garage peak and lakeside wall. The exterior is finished in a mix of charcoal, green, and wood-toned siding, paired with rustic granite stone for a timeless look. Designed to be maintenance-free, it ensures time at the cottage is focused on what matters most—making memories.
